NGC6611 (M16) - Eagle Nebula

NGC6611 - Eagle Nebula
Lying approximately 7000 light years distant this is a nebula that is still It's redness come from the ionization of Hydrogen gas that emits an HII spectrum of light. Due to it's surrounding darkness this is a stunning nebula. I took this picture in the Davis Mountains of Texas, where the McDonald Douglas Observatory is located. Very clear night.
